Sisi Afrika Magazine

Sisi is a multidisciplinary online magazine for in-depth stories and inspiring features of meaningful advances in art, science, technology, economy and politics in Africa.

We cater to the eclectic demands of modern intelligent readers through aesthetic literary writing, narrative journalism, and experimental essays from some of the best writers, artists, and thinkers in Africa.

Our vision is to transform how Africans think, work, and live.

Our mission is to cultivate a deep understanding and appreciation of creative and cultural productions, amplify scientific inventions and technological innovations to increase adoption in the society, and engender a transformative political culture necessary for socioeconomic justice for all African peoples.

Sisi Afrika publishes Sisi Daily and Sisi Periodicals on Arts & Culture, Science & Technology, and Economy & Politics.

Sisi:

centers African voices and imaginations

reclaims Africa’s representational agency

de-emphasizes narratives of Africa as a theatre of crisis and benevolent interventions

counters stereotypical portrayals of Africa through diverse, multidimensional, and multidirectional narratives.

Think of Sisi as a broker of knowledge, moving beyond merely opposing narratives to proposing extraordinary possibilities. We publish works that:

are compelling and necessary

ignite unparalleled debate and engagement

showcase outstanding knowledge and expertise

tackle transformative ideas, scalable innovations, and sustainable inventions that address specific challenges

create omni-channel digital experiences that expand how Africans access, enjoy, and interact with information

“Sisi” is a Swahili word for “Us”. “Sisi Afrika” means “Us Africans”. Sisi. Is. Us.

The magazine is a project of the Sisi Afrika Foundation — a nonprofit organization committed to transforming lives and communities through Education, Health Promotion and Digital Technologies.

Sisi Afrika Foundation centers African-led initiative and responsibility in reflecting, imagining, and creating inclusive, dignified and prosperous futures for all Africans. Sisi Afrika Foundation is registered and headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.
